A diagonal offset configuration refers to a silencer that essentially goes from corner to corner from the inlet to the outlet; so the inlet will be to the far left of each end and the internal tube passes diagonally through the box. This configuration is quite a bit quieter than a centre to centre and can allow for some unusual maneuvers under the vehicle, especially in order to sidestep an upcoming obstacle on the route.
